But, what is an "MOG?!"

Put simply, an "MOG" is a

M moment
O  of
G gratitude

MOGS can happen in an instant, or take time to build. They are based on reflection and recognition  that something, someone, somewhere or some time has had an impact on you, and you have taken the time to talk about it. But not just talk about it like it was a random sidewalk sale or a radio commercial (but granted, those very things could be MOGS on their own!); this is something that make you think about gratitude, or made you feel grateful or just gave you that warm, fuzzy feeling that made you think "hey, this is pretty cool". Basically an MOG is you talking  about something that made you feel grateful. Simple, huh?

Here are some prompts to get you thinking:

A person in my life who has made a significant impact on me is...
Today I am feeling especially grateful for...
An event that made me think about something bigger happened just the other day where...
Here's the thing; I consider myself a really grateful person but...

Why do we do this?

In the hopes of tracking grateful moments, we can perpetuate more gratitude in our everyday lives.

Why gratitude?

Because gratitude is the acknowledgement of kindness and and the following action to reciprocate. Gratitude is the thank you note that feels just as good reading as it does sending. Gratitude is understanding and appreciating; two of the most underused yet most needed virtues. Gratitude gets us off our butts and into the hands of helping others. Gratitude is the thing that makes all the other things better.
If we can find one thing to be grateful for, not only are we lucky, but we can trust that we will be okay. And finally, because gratitude takes what we have and turns it into enough, and from that we can survive anything this crazy, busy, lovely, scary, unfair yet glorious life we are all given to lead, that much easier to deal with.
